Emergency Dentistry
Dental emergencies don’t wait. Neither do we. A cracked tooth, a lost filling or a toothache that kept you up all night is not something to sit on until next week. If you call our office during office hours, we will see you the same day. Village Dental of Milford has cared for this community for over 50 years, and urgent care for our neighbors is part of that.
Open Monday to Thursday, 7 am to 7 pm, and Friday, 7 am to 2 pm. After hours, the same number will put you through to the dentist if it is an emergency.
If swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing, go to the emergency room or call 911. Do not wait for a dental appointment.
Dental Emergencies We Treat
If you are not sure whether what you are experiencing counts as an emergency, call us. We would rather take the call than have you wait.
- Severe or persistent toothache: pain that wakes you up or will not respond to over-the-counter medication usually means infection, and it does not resolve on its own. Root canal treatment is often what saves the tooth.
- Chipped, cracked or broken tooth: save any pieces you can find and bring them with you. Depending on the damage, we may repair it with dental bonding or protect it with a dental crown.
- Knocked-out tooth: time matters more here than with any other emergency. Call us immediately.
- Lost or loose crown or filling: an exposed tooth is vulnerable to further damage and decay. We can replace a crown or a filling and get the tooth protected again.
- Swelling, or a dental abscess: facial swelling, a bad taste or a fever alongside tooth pain needs to be seen promptly.
- A tooth that cannot be saved: when a tooth is beyond repair, removing it relieves the pain and protects the teeth around it.

What to Do Before You Get Here
- Call us first: we can tell you what to do for your specific situation while you are on your way.
- If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it by the crown and not the root. Keep it in milk, or tucked inside your cheek, until you reach us. Do not use tap water.
- Do not put aspirin directly against the gum or the tooth.
After-Hours Emergencies
Our office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 7 pm, and Friday, 7 am to 2 pm. Outside of those hours, call the same number, (248) 685-8748. You will reach our automated system, which gives you the option to be put straight through to the dentist if it is an emergency.
